Kateryna Gornostai was born in Lutsk, Ukraine in 1989. Studied biology and later journalism at the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy. From 2012 to 2013, she studied documentary filmmaking at Marina Razbezhkina and Mikhail Ugarov’s School of Documentary Films and Theatre. She started a career as a documentary filmmaker before moving to hybrid and feature films. “Stop-Zemlia” is the director’s full-length feature debut, which was presented in the Generation 14+ competition of the Berlinale and won the Crystal Bear Award from the Youth Jury. She also teaches film directing at the Kyiv-Mohyla Academy. She lives and works in Kyiv.
